Vancouver, BC, Canada

The newest ICSI system was put on-line today at one of Vancouver's landmark office and retail commercial sites, The Harbour Centre. Harbour Centre is a 28-story multi-tenant high-rise office building with a 3-level commercial/retail "mall" on the lower floors. Like most of the ICSI system sites, this facility boasts a complete barcode machine-readable Revenue Control System utilizing Modern Access Systems' Model HD-100 "Print-On-The-Fly" barcode ticket dispensers with the ICSI Fee Computer system. The system is part of a multi-million dollar parkade renovation, and was installed by Rob Morrison and Rob Muir of North Star Parking Services (NSPS).

The Visitor & Employee parking consists of an 860 space 7-level parking structure with two (2) Visitor Entry Lanes, and one (1) Exit Lane with a steel pre-fabricated Booth on a raised concrete island. This is the newest of the ICSI Fee Computer installations, and was put in operation (7 days a week, 365 days per year) on March 18,2005. The ICSI Fee Computer handles between 900 and 1250 transactions per weekday, and 500 to 1,000 transactions each weekend day. The site's Entry Lanes are handled by MASI Model HD-100 "Print-On-The-Fly" barcode machine-readable Ticket Dispensers. The site's ICSI Fee Computer will be networked with a P/C at Impark's corporate headquarters in Vancouver using Symantec's "P/C Anywhere" the Parking Management Office for report generation purposes, which will also be running the "Cirrus" (CRS) ICSI Revenue Control software.

Rob Morrison and Rob Muir of NSPS along with Steve Summers, Impark's District Manager for the downtown Vancouver area selected the new system. They sited the ICSI system's reputation with other parking operators, its high degree of reliability and maintenance-free operation, its ease of use, and extremely fast attendant/cashier learning curve as reasons for their decision. They were also impressed with the variety and thoroughness of the standard "boilerplate" reports that come with each and every ICSI system!

The Rate Structure at the Harbour Centre Parkade is a little more complicated than most of the previous ICSI system installations. This site has a five-day per week "Early Bird" special along with the standard Daily Rate which expires at 6:00PM each week day, at which time a "special" flat-rate kicks in (which is added to the standard Daily Rate) until 12:01AM. Then, there is yet another flat-rate for weekend days and Holidays. In addition, there are two more "Special" Daily Rates for students of Simon Frasier University who use the parkade; one for students arriving before 4:00PM, and another for students arriving after 4:00PM. Finally, there are about a dozen various other special validations to apply and keep track of. All of this represented little challenge for the versatile and comprehensive utility of the ICSI system!
